Genesis - A Trick Of The Tail

Genesis. Le groupe mythique du rock progressif une fois de plus sur DiscoBlog.
Période Phil Collins encore.

A Trick Of The Tail.
Avant le virage pop de …and then they were three… et l’implacable machine à vente que sera Abacab.
Le dernier des dinosaures !

Tracklist: 1. Dance On A Volcano / 2. Entangled / 3. Squonk / 4. Mad Man Moon / 5. Robbery Assault And Battery / 6. Ripples / 7. A Trick Of The Tail / 8. Los Endos

I admit being a huge Genesis fan, and this is my one of my favs album. Phil Collins did a great work by replacing Peter Gabriel on vocals, and in some sense, he was not still “himself”, he should find his own style. That is why reminds us Gabriel lots.

In Wind and Wuthering, the next one, Steve Hackett was still on the band, so this later is the last Hackett one, and the first without him is “And Then There Were Three”.

*Dance on a Volcano is superb, lots of strenght.

    *Entangled is romantic and mystic.

    *Squonk is nice and friendly.

*Mad Mad Moon is on the same tune than Entangled.

*Robbery Assault and Battery, makes us wake up from the place

*Entangled led us. I certainly don't understand why they included such a song in an album of this characteristics, it sounds pre-Collins era.

*Ripples… What can I say of one of my favourite songs? I sang it in a Genesis Fan Convention, very brave from me, but I was pushed to do so, my friends knew this song was part of myself. A masterpiece indeed. Banks on backwards, obviously…

    *Los Endos, a change again..

    Good album choice, :)

    many regards,
    cris
